Executive Director, Kate Troll (kate@akvoice.org)
Kate Troll joined ACA as Executive Director at the begining of 2006. Kate is a long-time Alaskan who has over 18 years of experience in fisheries and coastal management policy. Kate’s wide range of experience includes serving as the Executive Director for United Fishermen of Alaska, as a policy advisor to the Commissioner of Fish and Game, as a coastal management analyst in the Governor’s Office and as a locally elected official. Through these positions, Kate has played a pivotal role in shaping some of Alaska’s stronger resource protection measures, which range from protecting salmon streams to banning salmon farms and high sea driftnets. Exercising vision, Kate recently published a book, "Eco-nomics and Eagles: A People's Guide to Economic Development and the Environment," to promote the linkages between environmental protection and economic development.
Outreach Director, Caitlin Higgins (caitlin@akvoice.org)
Caitlin moved to Alaska in January 2005 to join ACA. She is a Green Corps graduate and has worked on environmental campaigns across the country, ranging from cruise ship pollution to mercury contamination and nuclear waste storage in Yucca Mountain . Prior to joining ACA/ACV, Caitlin worked on the November 2004 elections with MoveOn PAC in Iowa. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 2003 with a BA in Biology and Environmental Studies. Caitlin recently finished her Masters in Public Administration at the University of Alaska, Anchorage
— a feat which she accomplished while working as a full-time student AND full time ACA employee!
Development Director, Andre Camara (andre@akvoice.org)
Andre joined ACA in the summer of 2007. Andre first found his way to Alaska in the summer of 1998 to establish Alaska Conservation Voters (ACV) seasonal canvass effort. After experiencing a small portion of the Alaskan wilderness, he decided to relocate to Anchorage the following summer, with the goal of continuing his work in the conservation community. Upon his return, Andre joined the ACV board and began working with Alaska Center for the Environment (ACE) directing the Take Pride in Anchorage campaign until his move to ACA.
Finance Director, Dwayne Lee

Dwayne moved to Alaska from Wisconsin in 2001, he has a Bachelor of Accounting Degree from the University of Minnesota , and passed the CPA examination in 1990. Prior to working for ACA, Dwayne worked full time in a CPA office, taught accounting and business courses and completed a 28-year career in managing retail stores for a national chain. In addition to working for ACA Dwayne continues to work as the Finance Director for the Alaska Center for the Environment and as an adjunct professor of accounting at the University of Alaska. Dwayne, his spouse Gwen, and their daughter Melissa live in Eagle River, AK.
Legislative and Communications Manager, Sue Ely (sue@akvoice.org)
Sue Ely recently joined ACA after working as the Field Organizer for Mat-Su Taxpayers Against Proposition 1, a group formed to fight the regulatory takings ballot initiative in the October 2nd Mat-Su Borough election. Prior to this campaign work, Sue was the Juneau Watchdog and Mat-Su Coordinator for Alaska Center for the Environment.
Originally from Maine, Sue received her BA in Environmental Studies from Mount Holyoke College and a Master of Environmental Science from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. A Master’s Thesis on Forestry Regulations was Sue’s initial introduction to Alaska where she studied the formation and implementation of Alaska’s Forest Resources and Practices Act. In addition to working for ACA, Sue enjoys hiking the Juneau trail system with her hound Meg.
Office Administrator/Fundraising Coordinator, Annette Senger (annette@akvoice.org)
Annette joined ACA in 2008 and comes to us with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a UAF certificate in Tribal Management. She came to Alaska permanently in 1990 and lived mostly in small villages in the Aleutian Islands, where she worked for Aleut Tribes as a grant writer/assistant administrator and raised her three Aleut children. While in the Aleutians, Annette worked on a variety of Tribal Environmental Programs and developed a deep interest in conservation issues for Alaska.
